Sharing Knowledge To Make A Better World...

150 years ago isn't really that long ago, but in the scale of time it is a blink. Back then most people had skills that enabled them to survive, going to trade at markets, the general store or even with the occasion traveling trader for things that they could not produce themselves.

In this day and age we buy everything, if asked to build our own home, for most of us it would be blown away in the first storm, not to mention leak. Asked to light a fire to cook and stay warm with we would instantly go looking for matches or lighter, without which making a fire would be impossible.

"Our forbears worked hard this difficult land, and their reward was the freedom and independence of self-sufficiency." - James H. Douglas

How about finding water, growing food, making clothes, making tools and utensils, defending ones-self and family, providing a natural ability, skill or product to provide income for ones families needs. Even in the wild jungles there are tribes who have forget how to make fire without a lighter or matches and they have no computers. The list goes on and on, the sad thing is we are losing this knowledge so fast the time it took to gain all that knowledge was immense.

"The consuming desire of most human beings is deliberately to plant their whole life in the hands of some other person. I would describe this method of searching for happiness as immature. Development of character consists solely in moving toward self-sufficiency." - Quentin Crisp

Some say "We do not need that knowledge anymore we have technology." I say how many times have we seen that technology fail when we needed it most. How many disasters do we need to go through to realize that some knowledge is invaluable. Imagine if you will, humans going to another planet and running out of all the resources we brought with us, that knowledge and skills would be essential.

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." - George Santayana

The Order of Eden and the members are all share a dedication to the preservation of those knowledge and skills for the future of all mankind. As we believe that it will prove vital in the future to the continuation of our species. We believe in gaining and sharing that knowledge with all mankind it the only way to ensure these skills will always be with us. Sharing skills from around the world will enable mankind to advance the standard of living for all, enabling a much more secure and peaceful future for everyone.

Now some may say that sound like Utopian talk to me and you talk about martial arts and self defense. Sun Tzu the Author of "The Art of War" said if you want peace prepare for war". We have seen time and again that although most of mankind is kind and generally desires peace, there are those who do not. If everyone had all their needs taken care of and knew how to defend themselves there would be a lot less violence and crime. Under the Universal Law of "As Above, So Below", Even if mankind got to the point where we never shred blood again on earth. There are no guarantees that the other inhabitants of the immense universe feel the same way. So these skills are also considered vital to the continued existence of mankind.

Shannon and Robert feel very strongly about this and know that are not alone in this, there are many around the world who share these concerns in one way or another and this is why the Order of Eden was Established.
